THE BARE BONES INDIE AUTEUR

It is the only award of it's kind given anywhere in the world. It's a recognition of our cornerstone value,By any means necessary. That doesn't mean by hook or by crook. Nor does it mean you give up your values of integrity, nobility and honor. Or set aside the qualities of comraderie, compassion, kindness, self-control or goodness.

It means you are willing to, and have taken on any and every task that is necessary to complete your project.
It is great to have the budget for a full crew. But budgets alone don't guarantee the completion of a project or it's quality. That takes, determination, commitment, drive and that little extra willpower that most people don't have. It is the relentless drive that pushes past every obstacle, every challenge, every problem, every wrong turn, every disappointment, every failure, every mistake and every nasayer that tells you to quit.

The INDIE AUTEUR AWARD recognizes that person of many hats that will not stop, until the job is done. That person who sets a standard of stick-to-it-tiveness that we all admire, respect and revere. That something, that spurs on great explorers, lonely scientists, insistent investigators, and every human endeavor someone has said was impossible.

For us, at BareBones, it is the ultimate honor that we can bestow on any filmmaker.

Andrew Bassett grew up in Montana and went to film school in Bozeman. After traveling through Europe and living in LA for the film scene, he is back in Montana and working at a local production company in Missoula. Loon is the first movie he has directed, written and shot on his own.

Lilian Langston grew up in Montana and went to school for journalism and film in Missoula. After being a local news reporter in Missoula, living in Washington DC for a few months striving to work in politics, she is back in Montana and working for a local Missoula production company. Lilian helped a bit on the movie "I'm A Patriot" in 2014 as an associate producer. Loon is the first film she has co-directed, written and produced.

Loon began as a simple idea, an experience that some close friends had at a remote cabin in Montana. Chuck was a real neighbor, seemed innocent in the beginning and causing new problems everyday. We, obviously, enhanced their experience greatly.

The script was developed with this idea in mind. We took a true depiction of a man, mixed it with a fictional plot and developed our characters as we went. We went with the idea that something random yet terrible can happen to innocent people.

The basic action mostly comes from our main character, Taylor. He is struggling to cope with his father's death on his own, as his mother seems to have psychological problems right from the start. While no one seems to be a huge fan of his new wife, Ann, he continues to defend her and her intentions to guide him through hard times. Several of Taylor's obstacles are internal, but the biggest one being their neighbor Chuck.

Besides for our main characters, the final piece to this film was the beauty and remoteness of Montana. The state itself hit one million residents less than five years ago. To many people's surprise, there are plenty of people in the state that live much like Chuck. They're off grid, in the woods, year round, with no one else but themselves and their own thoughts 24/7. With this kind of seclusion, cabin fever sets in quickly. An unsteady characteristic can develop within these secluded people and cause unhealthy habits and reasoning.
